In this paper, we present a texture fault detection algorithm based on the Wold decomposition model. According to this model a texture can be decomposed into a harmonic part and a stochastic part. We postulates that the fault in the regular texture is mainly encapsulated in the stochastic part. Thus by proper exploitation of the harmonic and the stochastic part we are able to locate the fault in a texture.

The two-dimensional Wold decomposition for segmentation and indexing in image libraries

This paper presents a method for indexing and retrieval of multimediadata through texture segmentation, using the Wold decomposition. The texture field is assumed to be a realisation of a regular homogeneous random field. On the basis of a 2-D Wold-like decomposition, the field is represented as the sum of a purely indeterministic component, a harmonic component and a countable number of evanes...

Texture coding using a Wold decomposition model

A novel approach for coding textured images is presented. The texture field is assumed to be a realization of a regular homogeneous random field, which can have a mixed spectral distribution. On the basis of a two-dimensional (2-D) Wold-like decomposition, the field is represented as a sum of a purely indeterministic, harmonic, and countable number of evanescent fields. We present an algorithm ...

Periodicity, Directionality, and Randomness: Wold Features for Perceptual Pattern Recognition

One of the fundamental challenges in pattern recognition is choosing a set of features appropriate to a class of problems. In applications such as image retrieval, it is important that features used by the system in pattern comparison provide good measures of \perceptual similarity." We present here a new set of features and an image model based on the three mutually orthogonal components produ...

Wold features for unsupervised texture segmentation

An efficient texture representation for unsupervised segmentation is addressed based on the concept of Wold decomposition. Textures are described by the wavelet tuned to various scales and rotations to describe its deterministic component, and by the autogressive model to describe its indeterministic component. The wavelet features and the AR parameters capturing the perceptual properties, "per...
